Sometimes it is difficult to get out of bed in the morning.
A really fun musical game is to play songs from “Rid of Me” and “White Chalk” back to back to confound listeners with them being from the same artist. See for example that the gut disgust reaction my mother just made to overhearing the below probably sits at the opposite end of the dipole from her (presumptive) reaction to the internationalist-baiting catchy autoharping above. New PJ Harvey, new Radiohead Saturday— Yo La Tengo live Thursday… this is shaping up to be a nice week.
Here are some things I like about this year thus far:
1. I live in Seattle. (Very soon, my husband will live in Seattle with me.)
2. I have taken vitamins every day of this year.
3. Family members are traveling internationally.
4. There is a dog in my life.
5. I enjoy going to work everyday.
6. I have tickets to see Picasso this week.
7. I have spent more time on public transportation than in my own car thus far.
A short list but very important nonetheless. (Oh, and this is pretty neat too.)

It was a wonderful evening.
My wife and I confessed to eachother not really knowing what was in the news. I went looking and find this pretty interesting:
Leaked US cables show that Australia sees the Iranian nuclear programme as a “deterrent,” a sharply contrary view to that of most Western countries. The leaks also reveal that Australia doesn’t share the assessment that Iran is a “rogue state.”
Also, Australian intelligence agencies fear Israel may launch a military strike on Iran to knock out its nuclear facilities, which they said could trigger a nuclear war…
I see they’ve played knifey spooney before. I’m always bothered by the idea of a country with like forty percent of the more than 22000 total warheads getting to close the barn door after itself. No nation should want to need nuclear weapons. It’s repellent to stall any effort to reduce the number. We really need more than 1550 ready to launch? Who are we fighting— the entire inner Solar System?
(I don’t know why it has the 3d glasses thing on— to avoid copyright protection? Pretty irritating.)
